We all understand how important ‘going the extra mile’ is to get results, but how often is that theory implemented? Cohesion discovered from a recent on site visit that one organisation does just that on a daily basis for both their clients and employees; the results show for themselves.
Brett Group is a forward thinking business, with established expertise in areas such as mineral extraction and concrete product to paving products and pride themselves as being one of the UK’s largest independent construction and building material organisations.
At Cohesion we fully believe in integrating our business with our clients, to gain a strong standing partnership and a comprehensive understanding of their values and culture. Recently, our Talent Director, Deborah Edmondson and Specialist Graduate Recruiter, Jessica Batt attended a Corporate Induction Day held at Brett Group in Cliffe, Kent. Here’s what they had to say:
“It was an honour to be invited to such a well-established and interesting induction day, which Brett holds for every new starter of their business ranging from truck drivers to marketing managers and accounts team members. Led by Rosie Armistead (PA to the Chairman) her enthusiastic and exciting approach gave a personable feel to the day’s events. This is a touch that isn’t seen often with organisations but is a real eye opener to just how fantastic Brett Group is.
Held once or twice a month, the induction day speaks volumes of how dedicated they are to the hiring process and getting things right from the start – which we strongly believe in too. This in turn is reflected in the long service and loyalty of their employees.
Our day commenced with a welcome presentation, including meeting their Chairman, Bill Brett (fourth generation of the Brett family) – a personal touch showing the importance of culture within their business and what it really means to be a part of Brett Group. Then followed a tour of their working site and this had to be the highlight of the day, not only seeing the company in full swing but also experiencing how willing each employee was to help us gain a better understanding of their role and part of the process. The enthusiasm of every employee reflected their company values, which stems from the fact they are an independent company.
The work conducted at Brett is supported by their sustainability and restoration projects and have an ongoing partnership with neighbouring communities. This includes taking care of their local environment to restore and maintain any areas that are disturbed by their company. Brett has gained high recognition for their environmental achievements, both from the UK and European bodies.
The construction industry is largely faced with the problem of an ageing workforce, to combat this issue we are recruiting future leaders for Brett Group within their graduate program, whom will inherit skills from existing employees and help bring the business forward. Our visit has really helped not only gain a better understanding of the company as a whole; but also an even clearer idea of what to look for when recruiting individuals for their programme.”
We are committed to going the extra mile for all of our clients and work hard to be very hands-on and very pro-active. Find out what 2 of our specialist recruiters got up to when they met with Affinity Sutton’s repair partner CBS here.
