Q&A section
We have included a summary of the questions asked at our retention event.
We have received a grant for staff retention – what would be the best use for this?
It is important to know why people have left previously so exit interviews or employee surveys would be really helpful to get some insight into this. Fund can then be applied accordingly. Alternatively look at the learning and development plans for existing staff as in our experience that can be a big reason. However it is difficult to give a definitive answer without further information about your organisation.
How can we make retention practices feasible for smaller organisations?
Whilst you may not have different departments for learning and development it doesn’t need to be more complicated than a simple checklist e.g. week 1 a cup of tea with line manager to discuss how things are going, week 2 discuss training progress and so on. You can apply some of our suggestions from today’s event on smaller scales.
